UKUKS, the Serbian association for people with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis, is marking World IBD Day 2026 with a month-long campaign titled We Are Not Invisible, bringing together patients, physicians, legal experts, and institutional representatives to address three key areas: access to biological therapy, physical activity for people with IBD, and patients’ rights in the workplace and education system.
Key events include a street awareness action in Novi Sad (May 16), a free webinar on IBD surgery with a specialist from Memorial Healthcare Group (May 23), and the annual UKUKS conference in Belgrade (May 24), which will present findings from the BOOST Erasmus+ research project covering over 2,300 IBD patients across Serbia, Croatia and Italy.
The campaign also includes the continued rollout of Beyond the Diagnosis, a series of practical legal guides developed in partnership with legal experts, addressing employment, education and disability rights for IBD patients in Serbia.
