On World IBD Day 2026, the Japanese IBD Association, Kyushu IBD Forum, organised a hybrid awareness event titled “A Day to Understand IBD” in Kitakyushu, Japan. The programme featured patient-centred discussions on symptoms and daily life with IBD and was also accessible via YouTube live streaming. 

As part of the global World IBD Day campaign, landmarks in the region were illuminated in purple to symbolise solidarity and increase visibility for the IBD community.
