MilesForGuts – The IBD Marathon (17 May 2025)

CYCCA is partnering with the MilesFor initiative for the MilesForGuts Marathon, a symbolic race raising awareness of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

A group of young runners will complete a 42 km route from Nicosia to Larnaca, promoting solidarity and strength for the IBD community.

Although participation in the marathon is limited, the event will be live-streamed on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, encouraging wider public engagement.

CYCCA will also host a public event at Frederick University, focusing on the mental health challenges faced by people living with IBD.

Guest speakers will include a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, and university professors, addressing the psychological impact and the reality of living with an invisible disability.

The event will also welcome:

• The MilesForGuts team to reflect on the marathon experience

• Representatives from the Nursing Services of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus to discuss the progress of the nurses’ IBD training programme
