New Zealand

World IBD Day 2012

Crohn's and Colitis New Zealand is planning a media-rich campaign for World IBD Day on 16th May, commencing with our ‘purple ribbon’ event in the grounds of Parliament. Over 100 local members and family, wearing purple t-shirts will join together to form a purple ribbon and then reform to spell IBD.

We hope to have photos available almost immediately – so keep an eye out on our website – www.crohnsandcolitis.org.nz. Local experts will join the throng, together with 18 year old Michael Robinson – one of our local heroes.  Michael has recently had a purple ribbon tattoo on his arm, in recognition of his little brother, who at nine years old is struggling with Crohn’s disease.

Our parliamentary host and Member of Parliament, Dr Jackie Blue, will be presented with the IMPACT report.  Four other local heroes will represent us around the country, all are being interviewed by their regional media.
\r\nNational media is being targeted with the results of the IMPACT report, and the IMPACT questionnaire will be launched on our website.

Local support groups are planning to get out and about in their communities, with display and information stands. Wearing purple t-shirts, they will hand out pamphlets, give out purple ribbons and increase public knowledge of these devastating diseases.”
